These aren’t the only changes: the blue-tick verification system has also been switched up. Users can now pay a monthly eight-dollar subscription fee for a verified blue tick. However, that still doesn’t level the field because politicians and celebrities get an additional blue tick, which doesn’t make sense at all. To be fair, Musk also tweeted this approximately two weeks after his acquisition:
“Please note that Twitter will do lots of dumb things in coming months. We will keep what works & change what doesn’t.”
