WhatsApp is among the most used smartphone apps ever, with more than two billion monthly active users. From Gen Z to Millennials and Boomers, WhatsApp has proven to be an asset for every smartphone user. So, what’s so special about it? This is quite a reasonable question since more than a few similar messaging services are on the market. Why do people seem to prefer WhatsApp over Messenger, Telegram, and WeChat? Well, the answer is simple; many factors helped WhatsApp rise among the ranks.
This includes WhatsApp’s easy-to-use design, aesthetic layout, stellar customer service, and even luck. But if we were to expand on that, it’ll all probably come down to the founders’ will to help people without wanting an unnecessarily large personal profit from it.
Instead of trying to earn money from WhatsApp’s brilliant concept and execution, WhatsApp chose to improve and expand on its utility features. While ads could’ve helped increase WhatsApp’s revenue by about a hundred times, they also would’ve accounted for a terrible user experience.
And there you have it: the formula to create something truly out of the box is simply having a motivation bigger than short-term monetary gains.
WhatsApp is also famous because of the features it provides with a convenience that cannot be found elsewhere. For example, while almost all social media platforms allow the creation of groups, none of them allow 1024 participants.
Not to mention, one can share everything from images, videos, documents, links, contacts, audio, and even money via WhatsApp! You can also arrange conference video and audio calls with up to 100 people without a hitch.
So, as you can see, the pros are many. And although we’ve tried, there are no visible cons. If you haven’t signed up on WhatsApp yet, consider this a sign to do so immediately! Today’s blog will discuss if someone who has blocked you can see your WhatsApp story.
Can Someone Who Blocked Me See My Whatsapp Story?
Can someone who has blocked you on WhatsApp see your WhatsApp story? Well, yes and no. If the story was posted before you were blocked, they could see it until it expires. However, if you post the story after getting blocked, they can’t see it.
Many WhatsApp users believe that blocking is a very unfair feature that’s immature. However, that’s not completely true. While everyone has their point of view, it’s simply not right to list a feature as useless if it doesn’t work in your favor.
For example, let’s say you’ve been talking with someone for a while, and one day you lose your temper over a discussion. You say some mean things that you didn’t mean, but the other person is adamant about their decision to block you, and that’s what they do.
When they do so, you won’t be able to send them a text, any media, or a voice message. You can’t audio, or video call them, nor can you add them to a group anymore. Their profile picture, status updates, or About also won’t be visible to them.
In such a situation, it’s not entirely unnormal for you to think that blocking someone is unfair. However, if the scenario was reversed, we doubt you’ll have that same opinion. So, while it’s okay to lose control over a situation and get frustrated, it can only be called ridiculous to mark a feature useless if it doesn’t benefit you.
And it’s not like it’s all bad for the blocked user; the blocker cannot see your status updates if you post them after they block you. However, if you had already posted that status before they blocked you and they’ve already seen it, it doesn’t matter anyway, right?
Now that we’re done here, let’s move on to how you can block a user on WhatsApp, should the need ever arise for you to do so.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to your Chats page.
Step 2: Locate your chats with the user and tap on it.
Step 3: Tap the three dots icon at the top right and then on the More option on the drop-down menu that appears.
Step 4: Select the second option there, called Block, and your work here is done!
If you don’t have any chats with this user yet, don’t worry; you can still block them.
Step 2: Instead of scrolling through your Chats page, tap the magnifying glass icon at the top right, next to the three dots icon.
Step 3: Enter the user’s contact name you wish to block, and tap on their chat.
Step 4: You’ll see an empty chat room with their name on top. Repeat the same process to block them, and you’re all done!
Now, how about we discuss how to stop others from seeing your story, regardless of whether any blocking action has taken place between the two of you?
