This is where the Do Not Disturb (DND) service enters the scene. This service can help you do away with all those spammy promotional calls and SMSes you don’t like to receive. Read on to find out how DND works and how you can check your DND status online.
What is DND?
If you don’t want irrelevant commercial messages in your SMS inbox, the law has got your back. Every telecom customer has the right to opt-out of unwanted promotional calls and messages sent by telemarketers and service providers.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)– the governing body of everything related to the telecom industry– has set clear guidelines for both the users and the operators on preventing unsolicited commercial communication (UCC).
Do Not Disturb (DND) is a service offered by TRAI to all telecom users to manage promotional preferences. As its name suggests, DND allows you to pull yourself out of the recipient list of promotional messages and calls. You can stop getting promotional calls and messages by registering your number on the DND Registry online or offline.
How to Check DND Status Online
The simplest way to check all info about your DND settings is the TRAI DND app. Follow these steps to check your DND status online via the TRAI DND app:
Step 1: Go to the Play Store and search for “TRAI DND.” If you are reading this blog on your phone, just click this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=trai.gov.in.dnd.
Step 2: Launch the app. You will see a dialog box with an OK button. Tap on it to proceed.
Step 3: The app will ask for some access permissions such as Calls and Messages. Allow all those permissions.
Step 4: On the SIGN IN screen, enter the phone numbers of all the SIM cards you have in your phone. Enter your name and tap on SIGN IN.
Step 5: You will receive OTPs in your SIM card(s). Fill in and tap on Verify.
Step 6: On the home screen, you will see six options. Tap on Registration Status.
Step 7: You will see your DND status for your SIM cards. You can tap on Change Preferences to register, de-register, or modify your DND services.
