How to Recover Deleted Reels on Facebook?

First things first, is it even possible for you to recover your deleted reels on Facebook? While we loathe to the bearers of bad news, unfortunately, it’s impossible to recover deleted content on Facebook. As of now, there’s no way for you to get back any reels that you might’ve deleted from your account.

We do understand that this is highly disappointing news, but Facebook has its reasons for enforcing such a rule. It makes little to no sense to keep content that you’ve deleted yourself from the platform.

Moreover, Facebook has the Archive feature for this very reason. If you want to remove a post from your profile indefinitely, then all you really have to do is to archive it! This way, you can remove a post from your profile without deleting it; you can even look at it and retrieve it to your profile.

The only problem with this is that, as of now, Facebook hasn’t added the archive feature for reels yet. You can only archive regular posts/videos, not reels. However, we’re positive that this feature will soon be added in an update.

Before we move on to archiving a post, let’s first go through how you can create a reel on Facebook and delete it as per your wishes. Keep in mind that by deleting, here we mean that it will be gone forever without any chance of recovery.

Here’s how you can post a reel on Facebook

Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your smartphone and log in to your account.

Step 2: Once logged in, locate the hamburger icon at the screen’s top right and tap on it.

Step 3: Next, select the See your profile option at the top. On your profile, you’ll see two buttons right above your details: Posts and Reels. Tap on the latter option.

Step 4: Now, tap on the Create reel option. In this process, you’ll first need to select the video/s you wish to make your reel with.

Step 5: Now, you can edit the reel according to your wishes- add effects, edit the lengths of the videos, and just have fun with it!

Step 6: Your next step is to tap on the white Next option at the screen’s bottom right.

Step 7: Here, you can add a caption, choose the reel’s visibility, and add the location. Once you’re done with all of that, just tap the blue Share Now button, and that’s it!

There you go! Now, your reel has been posted for all your friends to see. Let’s move on to how you can delete it if the need arises.

Follow all the steps to go back to your profile and the reels section.

Step 1: Tap on the reel you’ve just created.

Step 2: At the reel’s bottom right, you’ll see an ellipsis icon; tap on that.

Step 3: Now, select Delete from the options that appear, and you’re all set!

Step 3: Scroll down on your profile until you find the post you wish to archive.

Step 4: Tap on the ellipsis icon at the post’s top right, adjacent to your username.

Step 5: Select Move to Archive from the options that appear.

That’s it, that’s all you need to do!

In conclusion

As we’ve now reached the end of our blog for today, let’s go over all we’ve discussed.

Facebook is the biggest social media platform in the world, and it didn’t get there by not respecting its users’ privacy. In fact, user privacy and security have been one of its biggest concerns since its inception.

However, we simply can’t have everything; we can either have our privacy or be able to reverse all our mistakes. Since most people will choose the first option in a heartbeat, Facebook has a policy of deleting all user data that the user wishes to be deleted.

So, if you choose to delete a reel, then there’s no way of bringing it back because Facebook deletes it from its servers, too. So, if you happen to be a particularly indecisive person, it’s best to always archive content instead of deleting it.

While this feature isn’t available for reels yet, let’s hope it soon is. If our blog has helped you clarify any doubts you might have had regarding this topic, let us know in the comments below!
