How to See Someone’s Search History on Instagram

See What Someone Searched on Instagram: Do you know why we’re taught History in schools and colleges? Well, there are many reasons behind it, but we’re talking about the most obvious one here, which is to remind us of our mistakes (or that of mankind collectively) so that we don’t repeat them in the future.

However, not all history is supposed to teach us the same thing, is it? Some histories also give us an insight into the interests, hobbies, and likes of a person. The history we’re talking about here is our recent search history on the platforms where we hang out the most, such as YouTube, Google, Facebook, Instagram, and so on.

In our blog today, we’re going to talk about the recent search history of Instagram. We’ll start by discussing the possibility of seeing someone else’s search history on the platform and will move on to searching, deleting, and recovering your own.

Can You See Someone’s Search History on Instagram?

Let’s start right with our question without much further ado. Your question was to figure out the possibility of seeing someone’s search history on Instagram, wasn’t it? Well, we’re here to tell you that such a thing is not possible unless you have access to their account, i.e., to their login credentials.

And before you start wondering if a third-party tool can help you with it, let’s clarify that for you as well. Although paid tools like Snoopreport can provide you with a lot of actionable insights on other users, even these are incapable of accessing their search history. It is because accessing someone else’s search history is a strict violation of Instagram’s privacy policies, and the platform doesn’t take such a crime lightly.

So, if you were planning on finding this info by trying out a fishy method, think twice.

How to See Your Search History on Instagram

In the last section, we’ve already established that there’s no way you can check someone’s search history on Instagram. But what about your own search history? Is that available for you to check on the platform? We’re glad you asked because it is. And in this section, we’re going to guide you on how you can access this history from your Instagram mobile app. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Launch the Instagram app on your smartphone and log into your account using your credentials if you haven’t already.

Step 2: Once you land on the Home tab, locate your profile picture thumbnail icon on the bottom-right corner of the screen and tap on it to go to your profile.

Step 3: As soon as you’re on your Profile tab, navigate a hamburger menu on the top right corner and tap on it.

Step 4: Upon doing that, a pop-up menu will appear on your screen with a list of options on it. The second option on this list is of Your Activity, with a clock-like icon drawn next to it; tap on it.

Step 5: When you do, you’ll be taken to Your Activity tab, which contains pretty much every piece of information you’d ever need about your activity on the platform, such as Time spent, Account history, Interactions, Links you’ve visited, and more.

Step 6: From the list of these options, navigate Recent searches with a magnifying glass icon next to it.

When you tap on it, you’ll be taken to your Recent searches tab, wherein all the most recent terms you’ve typed on your search bar are listed. Keep scrolling to find what you were looking for.

There’s another, a shorter method for you to do that as well. Want to explore that? Well, we’ve heard you and are adding another guide for it below:

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your smartphone.

Step 2: When you land on your Home tab, tap on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen to go to your Explore tab.

Step 4: Once you’re on the Explore tab, tap on the search bar located on top.

Step 5: As soon as you do, you’ll see a list of all your recent searches appearing on the screen.

You’ll also notice a See All button on the top-right corner. So, if you can’t find what you were looking for here, tap on this button. Doing so will take you back to the Recent searches folder we discussed in the last section.

How to Delete Your Search History on Instagram

If your search history can be found on Instagram, surely there must be a way of clearing it as well? Well, there is, and it’s quite easy one as well. In fact, you don’t even need a step-by-step guide to do it. Just pay attention to what we’re going to say next, and you’ll be good to go:

When you’re on the Recent searches tab that we talked about earlier, you’ll spot a tiny cross icon next to each search; tap on these crosses, and your searches will start disappearing one by one. Moreover, if you want to clear all the searches you’ve ever made, there’s a way for that, too. Navigate a Clear All button on the top-right corner of your screen and tap on it to get rid of your recent search history so far at once.

How to Recover Deleted Search History on Instagram

Now that we’ve already talked about how you can delete your search history on Instagram let’s move ahead and discuss the possibility of recovering this deleted search history. Wondering why? Because there are many instances in life where we need the things we threw away or lost in the past, it’s always better to be prepared for such instances in advance.

So, coming back to retrieve your search history, you must already know that there’s only one way of retrieving anything that you’ve deleted on Instagram: by downloading all your data from the platform. In fact, the very reason why the Instagram Team has launched such a feature is to help users recover anything that otherwise they might’ve lost forever.
